I enlisted the services of Home Instead Senior Care from the Virginia Beach location (Independence Parkway) and I'm absolutely beside myself with anger. Aides come to my house and falsify their activity sheets claiming they washed my 89 year old Mother's hair (when I inspected her hair, it clearly wasn't washed), they claim they vacuumed the area where my Mother stays during the day.

The vacuum was locked in my office and wasn't moved!!!There have many, many days where they show up late and NEVER notify me (of course I get charged for their lateness). I stayed home from work one day and they were over an hour late. I called the office to ask what was going on and they had no idea the aide wasn't at my house. There were days when nobody even showed up!!!

Then when I call the office, one rep tells me she's looking at the call in sheet and the aide called at 8:15. I get transferred to the office manager and she tells me she's looking at the call in sheet and the aide called in at 8:07. I called the house at 8:40 and there was no aide!!!! Bunch of thief liars!!!

The worst was today when I arrived home from work and my Mom was wearing the same clothes from the day before, wearing the same Depends as the day before and she was soaking wet with urine and covered in ***!!! This type of behavior, complete lack of standards and work ethic is absolutely pathetic and criminal. I have every intention of going to the Virginia Department of Health, The Attorney General's Office, Better Business Bureau, the media and every website where I can post a review.

I get charged almost $5000./a month for you incompetent, lazy *** to neglect and abuse my Mother!!! I'll be contacting an attorney as well.

Monetary Loss: $15000.

Location: Norfolk, Virginia

As follow-up to my original post, the Virginia Dept. of Health stepped in and investigated this matter.

I had direct communication with the Director of Acute Care and the Commissioner who emailed me on a Sunday night 20 minutes after I contacted her. The aide that left my Mother sitting in her urine and *** actually admitted to leaving my Mom the entire day without changing her.

The agency was cited for several deficiencies not only with my Mom but with other patients during observation. They were cited for inadequate record keeping, issues with patient care etc.....

When I called the *** owner to discuss my concerns, he cursed me out, told me I was harassing him (for 1 phone call...really???), then hung up on me. I paid him to have his "aides" care for my Mother, yet they abuse and neglected her and the owner curses me out like I did something wrong??

After he learns his aide admitted to her wrongdoing, I had no follow-up from the owner. What else should I have expected considering the type of person he is.

Next, I look into having the aide locked up for senior neglect, then either file a claim with their insurance carrier or file suit for damages.

**To the half-wit who asked about the vacuum cleaner. The aide lied about her activities claiming she did something she clearly didn't.

Doesn't say much for the credibility of this "fly by night" operation. I didn't hire these people to clean my house, I hired them to care for my Mom which they're clearly incapable of doing anyway.

The experience you had with Homeinstead seems to at every location. not just VA.

Their main objective is to get the contract signed, send whoever to cover the shift., mostly inexperience lazy personnel and collect their payment at billing time.

Their office management is much to be desired. They have no training in management and have no idea how to solve problems or interact with staff or clients.

Clients well being is far from their minds. They are all about money and could care less about anything else.

I hope you do take legal action against this immoral company.

If the vacuum was locked in your office, how did you expect them to use it? DUH!

I had an experience with Home Instead as a person wanting to work for them. I have written the local office a letter and am also CCing it to the owner of the local franchise. Maybe something will happen.

Do you know if she specifically asked the HI person to vacuum her mother's place?

I didn't expect them to vacuum my house. I paid them and expected them to care for my Mom.

I expected them to do their job.

I'm capable of cleaning my own house. DUH!
